You’ve heard the mantra, “New year, new me”, and yes, I am a firm believer in it. While, it may be cheesy (and I do love cheese), I believe it has a solid backing. At the New Year, people take a look back on all they’ve accomplished in the past year, and look to what they want to accomplish in the coming year. Yes… I realize it is now February 29, and I am just now doing my New Year’s post, but I’ve been a little off lately… again. But, better late than never. Besides, doing check-ins with yourself every couple months is a good way to stay on top of your goals. Here’s your friendly reminder to look at your New Year’s Resolutions and see how well you’ve been doing. Let’s start at the beginning.
My 2019 Goals:
Pay off 1 credit card — Nope
Outstanding PRT — Didn’t happen
Read 12 Books — Read 7
Earn FCA2 — Not even close
Create Blog — Yay! Finally crossed one off!
Read Bible in a year — Half way
12 yoga sessions — I did 1
2 outdoor rock climbing adventures — Didn’t even use my indoor passes
Run a 5k — I DID 2!!
I accomplished 2 goals, which if you don’t know me, might seem like a failure, but it’s 2 more goals than I achieved the year before. I am new to goal setting and achieving, so I might not have been perfect, but what’s important is that I was better than the year before. Now, in 2020 my goal is to achieve more than I did last year. It would be easier to make my goals easier, but that wouldn’t be challenging myself, would it?
So, what are my goals for 2020, you ask?
Pay off 1 credit card
Outstanding PRT
Read 12 books
Picked up for OCS or FCA2
12 Blog Posts
10 Rock climbing sessions
We are already into month 3 of the year, almost a quarter of the way through the year. I should be a quarter done with my goals, but, alas, that is not the case. Not quite doing well with finances, need to go to the gym more, haven’t read a book, haven’t studied as much I should have for the FCA2 exam, this will be my first blog post, and haven’t been to the rock climbing gym, yet. Hm. That’s okay. When working on goals it is better to show yourself grace than frustration. If I get overly frustrated with myself, I tend to give up, but if you give yourself grace, you can find a new way to begin again. So here it goes, time to begin again.
I have built a budget, and scheduled gym time, reading time (first up- The Scarlet Letter), and last minute study time (I still have 2 weeks), and I’ve written my first blog post of the year, and I will go to the rock climbing gym on Saturday, March 7! I’ve made a plan, and I’ll let you know how I stuck to it, next time I am on here!
What are your 2020 goals? It’s never too late to start goals for the New Year. If you’ve fallen off track, you can get back on track with me. The best way to achieve goals is to make a plan on how you are going to achieve your goals. What is your first step to achieving one of your goals? Let me know how you’re doing!
Thanks for being my virtual accountability partners! Until next time–
XOXO,
KCB
